Gas compressing for coal gasification

The Coal Gasification process relies mostly on centrifugal and reciprocating compressors.


Centrifugal compressors


Red Mountain Energy offers a wide range of compressors including the state-of-the-art integral gear centrifugal compressor which has significant advantages over the outdated and more costly rivals. These compressors can be tailor- made to suit the requirements of each individual client.


System designs of compressors can be based on differential pressure control, flow control or other methods. Our aim is to save you time and money by providing you with worry-free operation and simple maintenance when required.



Advantages of centrifugal compressors

  • Oil filter elements and seal gas filter elements are easily replaced on-line
  • 100% oil free that prevents contamination of system
  • Pulsation free and requiring no dampers
  • Capable of handling substantially higher volumes of gas in one or two small casings for a smaller overall package

Reciprocating compressors

Red Mountain Energy offers gas compressors in either the separable or integral design.Their compact design and reliable gas engine drive make them ideal for field installation.


Advantages of reciprocating compressors

  • High productivity. The integral construction (common crankshaft for engine and compressor) eliminates losses in gear mechanisms, belts and couplings.
  • High efficiency. The reciprocating compressors move more gas per horsepower than rival products thanks to a lower operating speed and larger cylinder valve areas.
  • Significant reduction of production costs. Periodic maintenance expenditures are lower by up to 35% in comparison with similar products.
  • Minimal maintenance. The integral engine-compressors have the reputation of being the best for gas gathering and production.

CO2 capture and storage

The conversion of any feedstock to gas fuels is an energy intensive one, and process emissions must be considered. For Coal Gasification plants carbon capture and storage (CCS) can be a low cost method of addressing CO2 concerns and may result in greenhouse gas emissions being about 20% lower than coal firing in coal power plants.

Once the CO2 has been captured there are a number of CO2 treatment and storage options available. Red Mountain Energy offers wide range of equipment for CO2 compression, transportation and storage.
