Red Mountain Energy hosted an evening of poetry and music as part of the 11th Moscow International Oil and Gas Exhibition, MIOGE 2011

Red Mountain Energy and its strategic partner in Russia, Premium Engineering, hosted their annual evening of poetry and music for their clients and business partners: “The Energy of Art”. The event took place on the 22nd of June at the SOHO Rooms in Moscow and was part of the 11th Moscow International Oil and Gas Exhibition, MIOGE 2011.


Among the guests were current and prospective clients as well as representatives of the company’s business partners. Jack Kenny, President of Red Mountain Energy, said a few words of greeting to start the evening. Other business speakers included Bill Dethloff, Vice President for gas processing, Peter Ludkovski, Commercial Director of Premium Engineering, and Vladimir Belyakov, director of the company’s Kazan branch.


Mikhail Efremov, Distinguished Artist of the Russian Federation, opened the evening with a poetry reading from Joseph Brodsky’s collections, “The July Intermezzo” and “Lullaby of Cape Cod”, as well as “Pilgrims” and extracts from “The March”.


It was not by chance that this world famous 20th century poet was featured on this occasion. With the financial support of Red Mountain Energy, Joseph Brodsky’s statue by the sculptor Georgy Frangulyan and architect Sergei Skuratov was unveiled in Moscow’s Novinski Boulevard on the 31st of May, 2011. It was to pay tribute to the great poet, to his outstanding talent and long life of exile that Red Mountain Energy decided to begin the evening with Brodsky’s poetry, thus enabling the guests to feel directly the energy of art which emanates from his verse.


After the poetry came music: the violin was played by the Distinguished Artist of the Russian Federation, Elena Revich, while on the piano was Olga Domnina, the winner of numerous international competitions, and together they delivered a masterful performance of classical pieces by Brahms, Scriabin, Sviridov, Dvořák. The well-known composer Vladimir Genin presented a new rendition of Ennio Morricone’s score for the movie “Once Upon a Time in America”, specially prepared for this occasion, as well as his new rendition of the folk Russian song, “Yablochko”.


The famous rock band, “Chaif” concluded the entertainment playing legendary rock music which blended with the previous classical pieces, and the poetry of Brodsky, making a perfect harmonious whole.
